FAQ

Dublin Ink charge by the piece although our shop minimum is 80e. Please note that is impossible to give you an estimate cost over phone or email. Any price estimations can be given at time of consultation only.

Different pieces require different types of consultations, for the smaller pieces usually consultations aren’t required. For larger pieces we usually would book you in a week in advance of your tattoo appointment to discuss your tattoo with your artist, here we can take size maps and any other information your artist may need.

Custom means we do not provide you with a range of ready made tattoos to choose from, Dublin Ink try to provide each client with a personalised piece instead.

We do indeed. But it is important to keep in mind that not all tattoos can be covered, and your artist may recommend that you have a few sessions of laser removal first, we do that here in Dublin Ink. For more information on cover ups and touch up’s you can message us directly.

Laser tattoo removal is a process where a high powered light penetrates through the top layers of skin and hits larger molecules of ink subsequently breaking them down to be absorbed by the body. Ideally, laser removal will remove all evidence of a tattoo with no marking or scarring. Although we do strive to give the optimal result, some types of ink are harder to remove than others, and complete removal is not always possible.

You can call in to the studio anytime from 12-7, 7 days a week to make a booking. We do require a 50e deposit to hold your booking, and 100/150e for larger pieces. This deposit comes off your final price of the tattoo. If you are unable to call into Dublin Ink, you can email us through our website, email or Facebook and we can guide you through the process.

We have a strict 18’s policy in the shop for tattoos, and piercing age starts from 17 to 18 depending on the piercings your looking for. You must be able to present valid proof of age on the day of your appointment. Even if you mom says its ok…. 😉

It is important you get a good nights sleep before coming in to have your tattoo done, getting tattoos can be stressful and you will be nervous so if your rested this will aid how your feeling. Do not drink too much caffeine or energy drinks. They make you tense and will not help stress levels. Shower and wear clean clothes to your appointment, careful hygiene practice starts the minute you walk in the door. Be aware that depending on placement of your tattoo, you may be required to take off certain items of clothing, to make things more comfortable for you we suggest bringing a bikini top or shorts in preparation if necessary. Dublin Ink is an open studio but we do have dividers in the studio for your privacy also.

Occasionally we do take walk in’s for tattoos but we can’t also guarantee we will have space. To prevent disappointment, we do recommend making a booking. All our piercings are walk in and we have a piercer here 7 days a week.

Bring all the images or references you have saved or printed off to show your artist. This helps your artist have a better idea of what your actually looking for. If you don’t have any reference images, just prepare yourself to give a clear description of what your looking to have done. You will also need a deposit, the deposit ranges from 50e-150e depending on the size of your tattoo. Deposits are refundable up to 3 days before your appointment, so if you need to cancel make sure you so it in the appropriate time to ensure the safe return of your deposit.

How to care for your tattoo?

Change the wrap every 3 hours.

When changing the wrap, it is very important to wash your hands first and then wash your new tattoo with luke warm water.

Dab dry with kitchen towel. After dabbing dry apply a thin layer of Pegasus/Bepanthen cream evenly across your tattoo and re-wrap your tattoo with cling film (available in food stores)

Repeat this process for three to four days.

Stay out of the sunlight and tanning booths until the tattoo is healed, at least 10-14 days.

Do not soak your tattoo in the bath, sauna, jacuzzi or go swimming while your new tattoo is healing. Showers are fine.

Do not rub or pick the treated area while it is healing. Loss of colour and/or infection could occur.

Your tattoo should heal about two weeks.

Over the course of these two weeks keep it clean and continue to apply the Pegasus/Bepanthen cream evenly on your tattoo.

Any issues with your new tattoo or concerns, please don’t hesitate go to get in contact with the studio.

How to care for your piercing?

How your piercing heals is up to you.

Chemicals will not make you heal faster! Quite in the opposite in fact, chemicals of any kind will upset the balance within your newly forming cells and create a condition in which your piercing will heal tremendously slow.

Use Saline solution, it’s the key to quick healing! It’s PH balanced to our bodies. The easiest and most accurate way to acquire saline is in the form of saline solution for contact lenses

Non-iodized sea salt will always state on the package ‘’this salt does not contain iodine, a necessary nutrient’’. Check the label before you purchase. DO NOT USE table salt or Epson salt.

Always wash your hands before touching your piercing

Mix 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt with half pint of boiling water, wait for the solution to cool then using a cotton bud, gently clean around your piercing to remove any lymph (crusts) away from the piercing, do this 3 to 4 times a day, then gently dry the piercing. Do not touch or twist the jewellery

For oral piercings (inside your mouth)

Use an alcohol free mouth wash every time you eat, drink or smoke. It’s recommended to keep using the mouthwash until you return for your change down to the correct size jewellery

Laser tattoo removal aftercare.

Immediately after the treatment, you may notice the treatment area is red and swollen and will feel much like a sunburn. During the healing process, the treatment site may also form a crust, scab or even blisters. This is all part if the healing process.

Failing to allow normal healing of the treatment site will increase the possibility of scar formation and can lead to infection. It may be necessary to use a dressing to protect the area if there is a risk of damage.

We recommend using some alovera gel on the site 3-4times a day for the following 5-7days and if blisters form and burst change to an antiseptic cream to prevent the site becoming infected.

Most activities can be resumed immediately after treatment however, soaking (I.E Baths and swimming) the removal site should be avoided until healing iix complete. It is very important that the area be protected from sun damage, As the site heals, newly formed skin will be more susceptible to sun damage,

Under normal conditions, the process which breaks down the tattoo ink begins 2 weeks after the laser treatment. The ink will continue to evacuate until about the 6week post treatment mark. For this reason, treatments are scheduled no closer than 4-6 weeks.
